ViBa Water Drinking System
ViBa Water is a drinking water filter system that assist to eliminate the use of plastic bottles onboard.
The filtration system does not interfere with the running ships’ operating system, is installed in the galley and is therefore accessible to every crew member. During ultrafiltration (pore size of max. 0,02μm cf. Legionella are 0,2-0,5μm) all components like microplastics, bacteria, viruses, herbicides, pesticides as well as bad smells and tastes are removed. In addition, a mineral concentrate is added to the water, which revitalizes the water and restores its thirst-quenching properties.

Structure of the system;
The system consists of 2 filters and a dosing unit. The filtration is purely mechanical, i.e. no external energy sources are required. In order to protect the system, a pressure reducer is used in advance to guarantee an even flow, as well as a water meter to determine consumption (or replace the filter).
The entire system is delivered ready for installation, i.e. it is only connected to the existing fresh water connection. The system is in a modern wooden cabinet (material has an IMO approval) with the dimensions:
(h x w x d ), approx. 80 x 60 x 40 cm or with cooling unit: 120 x 60 x 40 cm.
Step 1:
The first filter is an activated carbon filter which removes:

- heavy metals
- herbicides
- pesticides
- hormones
- medicinal residues
- bad smells and tastes removed
Step 2:
A mineral concentrate in a mixing ratio of 1:1000 is added via the dosing unit. The dosing is purely mechanical via a membrane that is controlled by the water flow.
The following additives are added:

- Magnesium
- Calcium
- Potassium
- Zinc
- Manganese
- Selenium
Step 3:
In the last step, the water is passed through a nano filter, which enables filtration of 20 nanometers (0.02 microns). This removes any bacteria and viruses, even the well-known legionella (> 200 nanometers).
Cooler (Optional)
The drinking water obtained can optionally be routed through a cooling unit so that cool drinking water is available to the crew even during hot seasons.
